Popsicle! Launch

Invitation-Only Launch was held at 6PM Wednesday 8th September 2010 at PICA - Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts.

"POPSICLE! is in it's third year, salutes Western Australian emerging designers. Packed full of emerging fashion, jewellery, art & other designer goodies. All appearing in the pop-up shipping container shop under the command of the OnWilliam crew."

From 9 - 15 September, POPSICLE! will be open daily 10AM - 5PM at the Perth Cultural Centre, James Street Northbridge.

Beyond Garment Seminar

The Beyond Garment Seminar was held on the 4th September at the WA Maritime Museum Fremantle and was to "Explore the boundaries between art and fashion in the realm of accessories, where cutting-edge design and aesthetics collide with the economy of ‘the wearable’ and the ‘consumer desirable’. How does the tension between these ideas inform the practice of contemporary designers?".

"Presentations included
- Slippages: between art, design and fashion by Anne Farren, Exhibition Curator, Beyond Garment;
- Why shouldn’t an academic wear animal print corduroy pants? by Dr Ann Schilo, School of Design and Art, Curtin University;
- What’s a girl to do? Turning art into fashion…as well as fashion into art by Dr Kirsten Hudson, Artist and Philosopher."

Beyond Garment Launch

Invitation-Only Launch was held at 6:30PM Thursday 2 September 2010 at the Maritime Museum.

"Beyond Garment is presented by the Western Australian Museum and Perth Fashion Festival with support from the Department of Culture and the Arts.''

"Beyond Garment investigates the boundaries of fashion beyond frock and explores fashion pieces not just as accesories for the body but as forms of art within their own right. Some of Western Australia's most creative designers and artist including Alister Yiap, Vashti Innes-Brown, Antipodium, Moira Doropoulos, Eunjeong Jeon, Nalda Searles, Janine McAullay Bott, Trish Little and Sophie Kyron will be showcased."

StyleAID tribe 2010

StyleAID tribe 2010 was held in the stunning surrounding of the Grand Ballroom at the Burswood Entertainment Complex.

"STYLEAID has become Perth’s opportunity to join the worldwide force of fashion fundraisers fighting HIV and AIDS. Initially the event was conceived in the hope of raising funds to assist with the education, prevention, care, support aims and the objectives of the West Australian AIDS Council but has since evolved to become one of the biggest events on Perth's social calendar."

This year's theme was "tribe" and showcased "the best in West Australian fashion (17 Designers) in a way that allows those attending to appreciate all that is great about the amazing design talent in Perth."

Perth Fashion Festival Program Launch 2010

Perth Fashion Festival (PFF) is the largest premier annual fashion event in Western Australia. This year, PFF will take place from 9 to 15 September and will showcase a mix of 160 labels, 100 models and over 100 talented Western Australian Designers across 50 events.
